Call for Papers OLD


The Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists’ Association is hosting its 6th International Conference for Dental Therapists, Dental Hygienists, Oral Health Therapists, Dental Prosthetists, Dentists, Dental Specialist, academics, researchers and healthcare stakeholders.

The Organising Committee invite you to submit a paper for presentation at the 2021 conference. The conference is calling for oral presentations and static posters.

The overall conference theme is ‘Interprofessional practice – outcomes matter!’. We invite submissions in the themes listed below:

  • Innovations in Oral health
  • Networks and partnerships for Oral health
  • Evidence for Oral health practice

Oral Presentation

Oral presentations will be allocated 20 minutes; 15 minute presentation and 5 minutes for questions at the end.

Static Poster

Printed posters will be A0 size (84.1 cm wide x 118.9 cm high) in portrait format and displayed for the duration of the conference.


  • Title  – 15 words.
  • Paper – 300 words. The paper should include a background; aim; methodology; results and conclusions.

Papers are due by 19 April 2021. The papers will be peer reviewed, and accepted papers will be published in a Special Edition of the Australian New Zealand Journal of Dental and Oral Health Therapy (ANZJDOHT). The receipt of submissions will be confirmed by an acknowledgement email. All applicants, successful or otherwise, will be notified by 31 May 2021. 

Paper Submission Procedure

1. Prepare your paper
Prepare your paper text, maximum 300 words.

2. Enter your contact details
Click on the Submit Here button (above) to enter your contact details.

3. Select Presentation Type
Select whether you wish to submit for an Oral Presentation or a Poster.

4. Select Theme
Select which theme you wish to submit your paper under.

5. Enter Presenter and Author details
Enter names and affiliations of the presenter and authors. Also enter brief biography of the presenter(s), 100 words is the maximum for all presenters.

6. Enter your abstract details
‘Cut and Paste’ the paper text into the relevant field in the online submission process.

Paper Document Details

For each paper you submit you will be asked to enter the following information:

  • Presentation title (15 words maximum)
  • Preferred presentation format (oral or poster)
  • Theme
  • Name/s of author/s
  • Affiliation/s of author/s
  • Indicate the presenter
  • Short (100 word) biography of the presenter(s)
  • Paper (max 300 words): background, aim, methodology, results and conclusions.

Presenter Registration

All presenters will be required to register for the conference. Presenters also need to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.

Audiovisual Equipment

The session room will be equipped for the presentation of PowerPoint slides and include a data projector, computer with external speakers, lectern and microphone.

Presentation Files

Presenters will take their Power Point slides to the meeting on a memory stick, where an audiovisual technician will load your presentation.

Video and audio clips should be embedded in your Power Point slides rather than linking to external files.

All slides will be run from a central presentation computer. However, if you have a complex presentation, which includes multiple media files, we suggest you bring your own laptop as a backup in case of difficulties loading your presentation.
